Shepherd Construction were main contractor on the 19,000 sq m Spring Mews site on Glasshouse Walk, a major regeneration of the Nine Elms area of Vauxhall.

The mixed-use scheme, estimated at costing more than £30m, created accommodation for 408 students (to relieve pressure on the local housing stock), a new 93-bed suite hotel fronting onto Vauxhall Walk, and a number of small office units.The development of Spring Mews by CLS Holdings represents an investment of over £50m into Vauxhall to ‘transform Vauxhall into a safe, lively environment for work, leisure and study’. Our design teams’ early involvement in this substantial project provided the opportunities for significant contributions in terms of product selection and specification to meet the demands of this important development.

The specialist contractors’ onsite teams, supported by full-time site supervision, and working closely with Shepherd’s own teams, undertook significant pre-planning and project management schemes for each work programme.

With a package value of £2.3m completed in 40 weeks allowing Shepherd Construction to meet very tight dead lines with students housed before that start of the University year.
